5-star package of creativity, skill and professionalism

Paddy’s strengths lie first and foremost in his ability to listen and understand your dreams, and then convert them into reality. His creativity and eye for design, his very professional team, his project management skills, and very importantly his appreciation for the need for regular communication and responsiveness are all part of the package… and it is certainly a 5-star package of creativity, skill and professionalism.

Paddy and his team converted our flat grassy areas, both in the front and at the back, into a haven for birds, and a joy to look at and be part of. We are so delighted with our garden – it seems even better than we had envisaged and has some amazing features - we couldn’t be happier with the result.

…and if you’ve agreed on an appointment at 9am on a particular day – don’t think you can be 1 minute late. Paddy won’t be!

The entire garden doubled in size in weeks

Paddy Milne came highly recommended from friends, whose new garden we loved. At our first consultation, he was punctual, attentive, professionally friendly, observant and he really listened. His design was outstanding and original, yet totally suited to our loose brief of ‘Rustic Italian’, which also needed to fit the existing landscape artist-designed granite perimeter wall (Mel Ogden, 2007) and red-brick Arts and Crafts house (Richard Coburn architect, 1932).

Situated on a busy pedestrian and street corner we requested plants to give some privacy in all seasons, with a white and purple/blue palette of flowers which would be relatively easy to maintain throughout the year.

His tight crew worked incredibly hard over 5 weeks, investing considerable time in the preparation works, to deliver a garden we loved immediately. The effort and attention to detail in every component of the work was obvious, with no short-cuts taken at any stage. The quality of the preparation of the soil, irrigation and plants was vindicated when the entire garden had doubled in size in weeks!

Paddy and his team were always friendly, punctual, tidy and organised during all stages of the works, with no gaps in work due to delayed materials or workers. He advised us of new technological irrigation advances between design and implementation, which will result in more efficient water use over the entire garden.

Paddy provides an excellent, non-intrusive maintenance service, tailored to keep the garden looking as good as possible year-round. We are really enjoying it now and are looking forward to seeing how the garden further matures. We thoroughly recommend The Scape Artist as an innovative and unique small business.

...thrilled with the beauty of our garden

The Scape Artist is the ultimate professional company for all your landscaping & construction needs. We were impressed from the very beginning when we made contact with the owner Paddy Milne. He answered his phone when we called. He arrived when he said he would to discuss our needs.

Paddy and his knowledgeable crew worked their butts off in hail, rain or shine and completed the job in one week which is what Paddy said they would do. Not only did they complete what was quoted but they did more as we did make changes during the project. They did everything from retaining walls and drainage, steel edging, placement of rocks, slate paving, as well as planting and mulching. At the end of the project we were more than thrilled with the beauty of our garden and can’t wait to see them again as we have booked Paddy in for the next project!

Last year my wife, Jessie and I undertook a major garden renovation with Paddy Milne - The Scape Artist. Paddy worked with us from the initial design and scoping of the project through to completion. During the scoping phase he was consultative, generated a great garden theme and was responsive to our personal preferences and budget constraints. Paddy demonstrated his well-developed client management skills during the initial phase. These skills combined with demonstrated botanical knowledge and a wide network of supporting trades and construction management skills convinced us to engage Paddy for our project.

Our choice proved to be well justified. After the project was scoped Paddy maintained close contact throughout the 10-week construction program. He coordinated metal workers, demolition contractors, electricians, carpenters, plant hire providers, nursery suppliers, landscape suppliers and irrigation installers with his team of landscapers to bring the project to completion on time and on budget.

Paddy continued to have “inspirations” throughout the construction: bringing new ideas for project enhancements to us for our consideration and approval. The greatest key to Paddy’s success seems to be his passion for what he does. He gets a genuine thrill out of doing a great job and creating outdoors spaces.

Paddy has maintained a keen interest in our project since its completion last August. He drives past on occasions and has suggestions regarding little jobs that need attention in our (his) garden.

Paddy was recommended to us by some friends who had previous dealings with him and were very happy with the work he had done for them. We contacted Paddy and asked him to inspect our garden which was suffering from erosion because of a significant slope.

The site is a difficult one with very restricted access. He came when he promised he would, he (and his team) arrived when he promised they would and he delivered an amazing result above our expectation. He also cleaned up the site on completion.

We found the service to be outstanding and it was such a pleasure to deal with a polite, pleasant and professional person.

We would like to sincerely thank Paddy Milne and the entire Scape Artist team for creating our new garden. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the knowledgeable team.

We utilised The Scape Artist for both hard and soft scape works; the quality of the materials used and the end result is unquestionable. What impressed us the most was the respect and cleanliness shown; it was hard to believe they kept such a clean and quiet worksite given the tasks being undertaken.

It was a pleasure having Paddy and his team create our new garden and we have engaged him afterwards for additional projects. We would highly recommend The Scape Artist to anyone looking to undertake landscaping work of a high quality, within a very reasonable budget whilst working with a highly capable and qualified team.

Thanks Paddy!

Paddy did a complete landscape of my backyard and sides of my house, which were just a wilderness of weeds and long grass from a new house build. His work was exceptional, in terms of both the quality, and timeliness, and he kept to his quote. The job involved substantial earthmoving and filling because of my sloping block; with new merbau split level decking, lights, a watering system, new shed, lawns, new balcony balustrading and steps, and split-level gardens and landscaping.

I am very pleased with the outcome and my friends and family think it looks fantastic. One year on, the gardens look even better than when they were finished now the plants have had an opportunity to grow. Paddy was a very easy person to deal with and was happy for me to add a few things along the way. I am sure the work has added significantly to the value of my property.

Inventive and practical …designs complement the properties

It is with great pleasure that I am able to comment on the work of a local company.

During the past year Paddy Milne and his team at The Scape Artist have completed a number of landscaping projects on our behalf which we have been thoroughly satisfied with. From engagement to conclusion Paddy has shown a level of professionalism and creativity.

Paddy, a trained horticulturist, is inventive and practical. His interesting designs complement the properties concerned and he is fully aware of client’s budgetary constraints. He is open to suggestion and input from the people who have engaged him but is confident in the knowledge that this advice will achieve the optimum outcome for all concerned.

Paddy is committed to utilising local resources and suppliers, and we have been very pleased with these results. So, if you want a beautiful, interesting, practical garden completed in the promised time frame at the original quote look no further than The Scape Artist.

When we finished building our house, we knew that to complete the job properly, we had to have the front yard compliment the house. We have a large front area and understood it would take way too much time and equipment to be able to complete the job ourselves. After chatting to a friend and seeing some of the work that The Scape Artist crew had done, we made contact with Paddy. We had our own ideas, Paddy added his and in the end he provided three plans. After cutting and pasting ideas from each, we ended up with a final plan that suited the sloping site.

What we were most pleased with was the patience Paddy showed us in the planning, the way his team worked together, their preparation and professional workmanship, and most importantly, the finish project. We are extremely pleased with the final results and could not be happier with how Paddy and his team went about the project.

After giving Paddy an outline of our wishes for our low maintenance front garden, he developed options for our landscaping. They were far more creative and interesting than our initial concept. He was totally willing to negotiate at every level and always had our wishes and concerns as a prime driving force.

His team were dedicated with the uppermost consideration for our family. Tidiness was important too. The retaining walls have been admired as has the choices of plants. Paddy even made sure he incorporated my favourite Protea which had to be removed from the previous garden. The retaining walls, plantings, lighting an overall presentation are continually being commented on.

To blend this landscaping into the house Paddy created a new balcony railing to blend. Well, after our wonderful front garden, we had to get Paddy to recreate our back garden too. The follow up has been amazing with constant monitoring of the plants and the watering system over the hotter months.

We could not be happier with the whole process dealing with The Scape Artist team.
