From the moment you enter the driveway, there’s an instant feeling of connectedness to the garden. The Oaks has a ‘parkland’ feel, thanks to the majestic oaks that a previous landowner planted. These have set the tone for the property and have provided integral ‘microclimates’ for the use of shade-loving plants, particularly the new drift of Dogwoods along the driveway.
The garden was first designed along with the new house in 1989. It has evolved with the family and has been the platform for a wedding and many garden parties. The Zehnwirths have diligently maintained an awareness of the property's rich history and have promoted the space as ‘a garden to be shared’.
